Marie-France has a PhD in Communications, Media Arts, and IT as well as a BSc (honours) in Marine Sciences from the University of Newcastle, Australia. She was a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. She completed her BA in Psychology and Film Studies at the University of Victoria, BC, and Diplomas respectively in Professional Photography and Creative Arts from Dawson College, Montreal. She also has a Diploma in Multimedia Design and IT from the International Academy of Design in Montreal. Author of Nurse or Nemesis (a book about Australia's endangered Grey Nurse Shark), her second book Every Living Being explores the historical and healing bonds between nonhuman animals and human lived experiences. Marie-France has an expansive interdisciplinary background and has taught in the Departments of Education (Simon Fraser University) and Animal Behaviour, Ecology and Conservation (Canisius College).
In the past year, Marie-France completed her mandatory Masters's level coursework in the field of counselling with perfect scores. She is currently working through her practicum hours under supervision with Island Community Counselling in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
